AAUW - Kerrville Branch |
|
In 2009-2010 the AAUW Kerrville Branch objective is to provide programming of interest to our membership with more member interaction. Opportunities for members to get to know each other, especially new members, are planned to create friendlier general meetings. Support for EYH, our graduate study scholarship, and interest groups will continue. The branch’s community service this year will be focused on Hill Country CARES, previously called the Hill Country Crisis Council.
AAUW SCHREINER UNIVERSITY SATELLITE BRANCH
In 2008, the AAUW Schreiner University Satellite Branch was organized to support the women professors, staff and students at the university. The branch satellite is a group of Schreiner women who are full members of the Kerrville branch but desire a separate branch organization to carry out projects and events. Plans include seminars, workshops, and student memberships. Meetings are scheduled once a month on Friday during the noon break at the conference room on campus.

SERVICE PROJECTS
In 2009-2010, AAUW Kerrville will focus on four important service activities: Expanding Your Horizons – The annual one day conference for area middle school girls is held at Schreiner University. The objective is to make each girl aware that she can choose a career in math or science. This year’s conference will be held November 21st. Legal Advocacy Fund – At the December meeting a silent auction is held to raise funds to meet our LAF goal of $5.00 per member. Local Graduate Student Scholarship(s) – Each year a scholarship is awarded to a deserving woman who is pursuing a graduate degree. Support of Hill Country CARES and the Local Women’s Crisis Center |
